I've probably only put in about 5 hours total since the update. I had plans to take every Gallente suit to advanced and run LP proto for PCs until I was sure what I wanted. Of the 5 suits here are my assessments.
I wanted to go beyond just armor, and look into speed tanking for all the suits.
Gal Scout: Great, very flexible, and has the option to either armor tank or speed tank, armor tanking it slows it down quite a bit but it still has the highest base speed of any of the Gallente classes. In truth a shotgun scout fully sprinted out is still deadly, but having 900+HP on a suit with a cloak and a high base speed is well........ I'm afraid to say OP, but it outshines a lot of other suits. Mind you though it can't compete as well an armor tanker at lower tiers.
Gal Assault: This one is tricky, the best way I could make it work before was by using the shield recharge bonus and dual tanking it. It was a decent, I filled the lows with kincats and regulators, and relied on a hive for reps. The dispersion bonus didn't help much at all though. I think you guys may have cranked up the dispersion too high on the Ion pistol and AR because I can't anything like I could before, whether hipfire or ADS. It has to be the most disappointing suit bonus, I've at least heard some people like the Caldari bonus, but most of the blaster weapons are so UP it helps little
Gal Commando: Similar to the assault it's bonus to damage helps little because already lackluster performance of the AR, PC, and Ion Pistol. Did I forget one? No because the commando I built used it's lows to help fit a cloak, a shotgun, and kincats. The shotgun Sentinel is one type of CQC beast but the commando plays the game differently. Yesterday I was running around playing hide and seek with 2 red cloaky scouts. I managed to go 5-0 until they both came from two directions. If the Plasma cannon or AR got a buff this would be hands down my favorite suit, but for now it's still fun.
Gal Sentinel: Like the commando I can set it up for full speed or full tank, both of which are deadly. The speed tanked shotgun sentinel makes a great scout hunter. It take 3 shots to take me down and usually only 1 or 2 to take them. It's F.U.N. The armor tanked one is also a beast, it has plenty of fitting space and both variants work well with a magsec. 8k ISK shotgun Sentinel just loves hugging proto scouts.
Finally my previous love the Gal Logi: It's not that it's a bad suit anymore, but it just isn't nearly as interesting. The scanner rebalance was fair and changed the dynamics a bit, but I feel as though even with all the scouts running around it just feels impractical. If a scout doesn't want to be seen they know exactly what to fit, and even if they are the short light up won't tell you much more than some margin of error. Increase the angle on the scanners and I could love this suit like I did before, but Min Logis are so much more useful now then they were before.
Base armor repair was great on all of them, made me feel less obligated to fit a repper for my speed variants. They all also performed worse out in the open.
As for the weapons, I like the magsec, it seems balanced. IDK when I'd ever want to use the bolt pistol over another sidearm, and the Ion Pistol...... short range, high dispersion, low damage, small clip, and a charge shot all together make it an impractical and quite frankly idiotic weapon.
So CCP please fix the Gallente weapons and I'll be golden, until then I'll be in a soma just killing everything unimpeded .
Anybody else try out a whole races lineup and care to comment on how they were? I'm interested in how every suit does or does not work.
